JC Councilman James Solomon Calls on Amy Degise to Resign Following Release of Hit-and-run Footage

Published
6 months agoon

Councilperson James Solomon calls for resignation of Council member Amy DeGise after reviewing the video of the Council member’s hit and run crash where she was issued multiple citations last week:
“I am horrified by the video showing Council member DeGise’s hit and run crash. Leaving the scene of a crash is illegal. Doing so demonstrated a callous disregard for the life and health of the victim she hit. Public servants must be held to a higher standard. While Council member DeGise is entitled to forgiveness and her day in court, both should come as a private citizen. She should resign. If she fails to do so, she should be recalled.”

The video evidence is clear. This is a criminal act that can not be disputed. Amy DeGise needs to be held accountable for her actions. The video needs to be shown on major media outlets so that public pressure can be applied. Amy DeGise should resign immediately. If criminal acts like this from elected officials are tolerated how can average citizens be held accountable?
As we have seen across the country, when you tolerate criminal acts you get far more criminal acts.

The victim will be paid off and Ms. De’Gise will get a slap on the wrist and nothing else

Anything less than a resignation as a mere starter sets the wrong example. This was absolutely a criminal act and must be treated accordingly.

100% agree. What’s the delay Mayor Fulop and Jersey City City Council??? Your silence = your approval.
