North Bergen has welcomed a new culinary addition with the opening of Goutex BBQ, a Brazilian-Portuguese restaurant located at 4305 Bergen Turnpike. The grand opening event, held on May 15, 2024, saw Mayor Nicholas Sacco and Township Commissioners in attendance to celebrate this new establishment.

Goutex BBQ specializes in traditional Brazilian-Portuguese barbecue, featuring meats cooked on a rotisserie over a charcoal grill. The restaurant uses Perdue yellow brand meats and imports rice from Brazil, prepared in the authentic Portuguese style.

The owner, Thiago Goulart, also runs a meat distribution wholesale company on 86th Street, guaranteeing that the meat served at Goutex BBQ is always fresh and never frozen. He is joined in this venture by his partner, Glaywson Rodrigues. The restaurant operates in a newly remodeled space, previously home to Six Corners Restaurant, owned by Frank Guia.

Mayor Sacco expressed his enthusiasm for the new restaurant, saying, “We are so happy to welcome another wonderful new business to North Bergen! We wish you lots of success!”

The grand opening was a notable event, attended by Commissioners Hugo Cabrera, Allen Pascual, and Claudia Rodriguez; NHRFR Executive Director Mike DeOrio; and Assemblyman Julio Marenco. The remodeled space and the promise of authentic Brazilian-Portuguese cuisine have generated excitement in the community.

Goutex BBQ is open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers free delivery, making it convenient for local residents to enjoy their meals. For more information, visit their website at www.goutexbbq.com or call them at 973-3180.
