Hudson County Businesses Announce Closures

Jersey City, NJ – Several long-standing businesses in Hudson County, including Barcade, Fox and Crow, Garden State Orthopedics, and Sticky’s Finger Joint, have announced they will be closing.
Barcade, a retro arcade and craft beer bar in Jersey City, announced it will close after a successful 14-year run. The business will end operations on June 15, citing the conclusion of its lease as the primary reason. “JC was the 2nd Barcade we opened—so much has changed since then for us and the city,” the business said in a statement. While the Jersey City location is closing, Barcade plans to open a new location in Lower Manhattan this spring.
Fox and Crow, a neighborhood bar and live music venue in Jersey City’s Heights neighborhood, also announced its closure. In a farewell message, the owners reflected on 12 years of memories and friendships. “After long consideration, as a family, we have decided it is time to move on to our next chapter and close the doors,” the owners wrote. “We have made so many lovely memories and friendships along the way and sincerely enjoyed becoming your neighborhood spot!” Over the years, the venue gained recognition as a hub for musicians and artists.
In Hoboken, Garden State Orthopedics closed on Jan. 27 after more than 30 years of service. An administrator explained that the office’s lease had expired, and attempts to find a comparable location were unsuccessful. “We searched long and hard. We were sad to leave the Hudson County region,” he said. The practice has relocated to a state-of-the-art facility in Iselin but remains disappointed to leave the area it served for decades.
Sticky’s Finger Joint, known for its chicken tenders, will also close its Hoboken location following Super Bowl Sunday. The chain’s parent company recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to financial challenges. Sticky’s CEO cited supply chain issues and a drop in foot traffic at several locations as contributing factors to the closure.
