North Bergen Man Killed in Fatal 48th Street Shooting Identified

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting in North Bergen that killed a 47-year-old township man, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.

According to authorities, just after 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026, the North Bergen Police Department was notified of a shooting inside an apartment at 1525 48th Street. Responding officers found an injured man, later identified as Christopher Novembre, 47, of North Bergen, with an apparent gunshot wound.

Novembre was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The cause and manner of death are pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The prosecutor’s office said the individual involved in the shooting has been identified and that the circumstances of the case are actively being investigated. No charges have been announced.

Novembre attended North Bergen High School and Hudson County Community College and was a member of IATSE Local 632.
