Bayonne University Hospital Opens New Sleep Center

Hudson Regional Health, joined by Bayonne Mayor Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski and members of the Bayonne City Council, celebrated the grand opening of Bayonne University Hospital’s new Sleep Center.

The new service will expand access to sleep diagnostic and treatment services for residents in Bayonne and throughout Hudson County, with advanced sleep testing technology, board-certified sleep medicine physicians, and sleep technicians.

The center features private sleep rooms where patients undergo overnight studies that monitor sleep cycles by recording brain waves, oxygen levels, heart rate, and breathing. The rooms are designed to feel like a hotel, with personal bathrooms and showers, complimentary breakfast, Wi-Fi, and televisions.

“Bayonne University Hospital’s new Sleep Center represents the latest milestone in Hudson Regional Health’s ongoing transformation of Bayonne University Hospital,” said HRH Chairman Yan Moshe. “We are making unprecedented investments in our facilities, expanding access to specialized care, and delivering on our long-term commitment to the health and well-being of the Bayonne community.”

HRH CEO and President Dr. Nizar Kifaieh said the goal is to bring care closer to home. “We’re making it easier for Hudson County residents, especially those in Bayonne, to receive timely diagnoses and personalized treatment close to home,” he said.

The center treats conditions including sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, insomnia, and other sleep disorders for both adults and children. According to HRH Pulmonologist Dr. Yahya M. Dikengil, untreated sleep disorders such as sleep apnea can lead to heart disease or stroke.

Ashe-Nadrowski thanked the health system for its investment. “The opening of Bayonne University Hospital’s Sleep Center brings specialized, state-of-the-art care closer to home for both adults and children here in Bayonne,” she said.

The Sleep Center accepts all major insurance companies. To schedule a consultation, call 201-858-5162.

The center is the latest in a series of upgrades at Bayonne University Hospital since HRH took over operations in November 2024.
