Bayonne, NJ – The Hudson County Board of Commissioners has honored Kelly Carroll as the 2024-2025 Hudson County Teacher of the Year, recognizing her dedication to education and student success.

Carroll, a lifelong Bayonne resident, has spent 15 years as an educator in the city, earning additional honors as 2024 Bayonne District Teacher of the Year and 2024 Mary J. Donnohoe Teacher of the Year. She now serves as Assistant Principal at William Shemin Midtown Community School.

Her impact on students was highlighted at the New Jersey Department of Education’s Teacher of the Year Orientation Ceremony, where a showcase video featured one of her students praising her approach. “Ms. Carroll is a great teacher because she makes everyone feel special and always finds ways to make learning fun.”

Carroll has led literacy initiatives as a Wilson Dyslexia Therapist, Reading Specialist, and Supervisor of the 100 Book Challenge. She has also mentored teachers, written curriculum, and led professional training.

Hudson County officials applauded her work. “The Hudson County Board of County Commissioners and Hudson County Executive Craig Guy extend their highest commendations to Kelly Carroll for her tireless dedication to her students,” the Board stated.

Carroll remains active in educational organizations, including the Hudson County Professional Learning Community Consortium and the International Dyslexia Association.
