Storefront in Guttenberg Closed After Marijuana Distribution Investigation

Max’s Convenience at 7101 John F. Kennedy Boulevard East was shut down by the Guttenberg Police Department after officers confirmed marijuana was being sold illegally from the business.
Police began investigating the store after receiving several community tips over the past few months. On November 14, 2025, detectives arrested 21-year-old Amr T. Kassim of Brooklyn, New York, at the location.
Following his arrest, police secured the store and later executed a search warrant. Officers reported finding 32 ounces of marijuana and related products, cash believed to be from drug sales, and materials used to package and distribute marijuana.
Kassim was released after being processed and is scheduled to appear in court.
“This investigation is a perfect example of our abilities as law enforcement when we closely partner with our community to make Guttenberg a safer place,” said Chief Frank Pelaez. “Without our community’s involvement, we may have never been informed of narcotics sales at this establishment.”
