Fatal Fire in Union City Claims One Life, 22 Residents Displaced

The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force, North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue, and the Union City Police Department are investigating a fatal fire that occurred Saturday, April 18, 2026, on Bergen Turnpike in Union City, NJ.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., the Union City Police Department was notified of a fire in the area of Bergen Turnpike and 38th Street. Upon arrival, first responders located a fire involving 3808 through 3812 Bergen Turnpike. During suppression activities, firefighters located a deceased individual, tentatively identified as a 74-year-old female, within a residence at 3808 Bergen Turnpike.

A total of 22 residents were displaced as a result of the fire.

The investigation remains ongoing. No further information has been released at this time.
