North Bergen Road Closures Due to Railroad Repairs

Starting at 7AM Monday, July 22nd , 83rd Street will be closed to install a new railroad

crossing. 83rd Street is stated to reopen at 7PM on Friday, July 26th, however if the work is completed earlier, the road will be reopened accordingly.

The closure is for both directions at the railroad crossing, so local access will only be maintained for businesses on 83rd Street. Detours have been put in place to assure drivers have easy access to their destinations.

According to NJDOT, the detours are as follows:

83rd Street Eastbound

• Turn right onto Westside Avenue

• Turn left on 69th Street to Tonnelle Avenue/Route 1&9

83rd Street Westbound

• Turn left onto Tonnelle Avenue/Route 1&9 South

• Turn right onto 69th Street

• Turn right onto Westside Avenue

• Turn left onto 83rd Street
