Miss America Diner to Close After More Than 80 Years in Jersey City

The Miss America Diner, a West Side Avenue landmark operating since the 1940s, will close its doors for good on Monday, November 3, 2025, according to a message from its current owners.
“It is with extreme sadness we announce that the Miss America Diner will be closing her doors on Monday, November 03, 2025,” the statement read.
Originally opened in 1942, the diner has been a fixture in Jersey City for more than 80 years. While ownership has changed over time, its retro-style architecture and traditional American menu have remained consistent features. The current owners—Stella, George, John “Yankee,” and their late co-founder Tony—have operated the business for over 13 years.
“We wish to thank our hardworking staff for their dedication and especially to our loyal customers who kept us going for the last 13+ years,” the owners said. “We thank you for your patronage and the support you gave to our small business! We couldn’t have done it without you!”
Following the closure, the diner’s space will be taken over by Salumeria Ercolano, an Italian restaurant currently located at 1072 West Side Avenue. Known for its house-made mozzarella prepared fresh daily, the business will relocate into the Miss America Diner location.
“With our deepest and sincerest appreciation,” the statement concluded, “Stella, George, John ‘Yankee’ and our Heavenly Angel Tony.”
The diner’s final days of service will be Saturday and Sunday, November 1 and 2.
