Emily Jabbour Announces Campaign for Hoboken Mayor

HOBOKEN, NJ – Councilwoman-at-Large Emily Jabbour has officially entered the race to become Hoboken’s next mayor, launching her campaign just days after incumbent Ravi Bhalla announced he would not seek a third term. Jabbour, who has served on the City Council since 2017, is the first candidate to declare her candidacy for the November 4, 2025, election.
“I love this city and am so proud to call Hoboken home and raise our kids here with my husband, Peter,” Jabbour said in her announcement. “I’m excited to put my energy and experience to work, and today announce my campaign to be Hoboken’s next mayor.”
Jabbour emphasized her priorities, including improving schools, enhancing public safety, increasing transparency in local government, and expanding public transportation access. She promised a grassroots, community-focused campaign, vowing to connect with residents “in living rooms, coffee shops, and parks” across the city in the months ahead.
A Boston native, Jabbour has lived in Hoboken since 2008 and boasts a strong background in public service. She has worked for over 18 years with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and has been active in local community initiatives, including founding the Hudson County chapter of Moms Demand Action and volunteering with the Hoboken Food Pantry. Jabbour has also been a consistent supporter of public education, with her two daughters attending the Hoboken Public School District.
Jabbour’s campaign marks a continuation of her close ties with Bhalla, under whom she ran in both 2017 and 2021. While Bhalla recently shifted his focus to state-level politics, Jabbour’s candidacy represents an opportunity to build on his administration’s achievements, including park expansions and waterfront preservation.
With her announcement, Jabbour hopes to energize voters around her vision for Hoboken’s future. “As a mom, you better believe I’ve got a long to-do list of new ideas to continue improving our community and make Hoboken a great place to live, work, and raise a family,” she said.
