Bayonne Gives Little League Team a Heroes’ Welcome Home

Bayonne welcomed its Little League team home with a heroes’ welcome on Wednesday, August 27, 2026, as crowds lined the streets to celebrate the players’ historic run at the Little League World Series.

The team received a police escort from the Pennsylvania-New Jersey border into the city, arranged by the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office at the direction of Sheriff James M. Davis. Led by the office’s Motorcycle Unit, Motor Unit, and Chief Junior Ferrante of its Office of Emergency Management, the procession traveled down Broadway as residents came out to welcome the players home.

The escort route ran from the New Jersey Turnpike to Broadway, 5th Street, and Kennedy Boulevard, ending at the Bayonne Little League Field, where the celebration continued at the league’s headquarters on First Street.

“These young men represented our city with pride, determination, and heart, and now it’s time for Bayonne to show them just how proud we are,” the Bayonne Police Department said ahead of the arrival, encouraging residents to line the streets and wave their Bayonne colors.

The team made history this summer as the first from Hudson County to reach the Little League World Series in about 60 years, since West New York American in 1966. Along the way, the players captured the New Jersey state championship and the Metro Region title, and earned Bayonne’s first-ever wins at the Little League World Series in Williamsport before being eliminated.

“Congratulations to Bayonne Little League on a monumental run in the Little League World Series,” the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office said. “You made Hudson County proud.”
