Hoboken, NJ –Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla has announced his candidacy for the New Jersey State Assembly in the 32nd Legislative District. This follows his decision not to seek a third term as mayor. Bhalla’s says his campaign will focus on traffic safety, climate change, and housing affordability.

“In the State Assembly, I will fight to ensure New Jersey leads the way on curbing traffic fatalities, addressing climate change, and tackling the housing crisis,” Bhalla said. “Trenton needs more leaders who get things done.”

Bhalla’s candidacy comes as Assemblyman John Allen, the current representative for the district, announced he will not seek re-election. Elected in 2023, Allen expressed gratitude for his term. Allen noted his decision was motivated by the opportunity to pursue other roles in public service.

“Serving Hoboken and Jersey City has been an immense honor,” Allen said. “I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished and remain committed to finishing my term with a focus on delivering results.”

The 32nd Legislative District encompasses Hoboken and parts of Jersey City.
