Hudson County Community College Unveils New Mascot, the Hudson Hornets

Hudson County Community College has a new mascot and is hiring for its growing athletics program.
The college has unveiled the Hudson Hornets as its official mascot, announcing the new identity as it builds out an athletics program that launched its first teams this year. “HCCC has a new mascot, go Hudson Hornets,” the college said in a post marking its Fall 2026 College Service Day.
The mascot arrives as HCCC continues expanding its athletics offerings. The college launched men’s and women’s basketball teams this fall, marking the start of an athletics program in its roughly 50-year history, and previously said it planned to add volleyball and other varsity teams in the coming years.
Now, the college is hiring for several part-time athletics positions, including a men’s volleyball coach, a women’s volleyball coach, and an event assistant.
“As HCCC celebrates a new era of school pride with the introduction of our new mascot, we’re looking for enthusiastic team members to help elevate the athletics experience for our students and community,” the college said in a post shared on LinkedIn.
HCCC competes as a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Its athletics program is to be headquartered in the college’s new Center for Student Success on the Journal Square Campus, which includes a full-size gymnasium, fitness center, and athletic training facilities.
