Secaucus Police Mourn Passing of Lieutenant Thomas Malanka Jr.

The Secaucus Police Department is mourning the loss of Lieutenant Thomas Malanka Jr., known as “TJ,” who died on August 24, 2026.

Malanka served the department with honor and distinction from 2002 until June 2026. Over his career, his assignments included Patrol Supervisor, Platoon Commander, and Extra Duty Coordinator. He was also a member of the Hudson County Rapid Deployment Force for more than a decade.

“It is with a heavy heart that the Secaucus Police Department announces the passing of Lieutenant Thomas Malanka Jr.,” the department said.

Malanka is survived by his wife, children, and his mother and father, retired Captain Thomas Malanka Sr. The department asked the community to keep the Malanka family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
