Tragic Pedestrian Accident in Bayonne Leads to Investigation

rompted the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Bayonne Police Department to launch an investigation. The tragic incident took place around 11:50 a.m. near the intersection of 22nd Street and Broadway.

Authorities report that Maryann Patey, a 74-year-old resident of Bayonne, was struck by a black Nissan driven by a 31-year-old Bayonne woman. Emergency responders found Patey with a severe head injury, and she was quickly transported to Jersey City Medical Center. Unfortunately, Patey was pronounced dead at the hospital at 12:46 p.m.

The driver of the Nissan stayed at the scene of the accident, cooperating with the ongoing investigation. At this time, no charges have been filed. The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Bayonne Police Department are working together to determine the cause of the accident and any contributing factors.
