Three Hoboken Residents Arrested on Narcotics and Weapons Charges Following Harrison Street Dispute

The Hoboken Police Department announced the arrest of three individuals on narcotics and weapons charges following a physical dispute on the 200 block of Harrison Street on March 24, 2026.

Officers responded to the location at approximately 11:30 p.m. after reports of a dispute inside an apartment, with one individual reported to have been brandishing a handgun.

Upon arrival, officers detained 21-year-old Tahjmir Mitchell of Hoboken. A search found him in possession of 24 bags of crack cocaine, six wax folds of heroin, and drug paraphernalia. A subsequent investigation led to the arrests of 21-year-old Justin Villafane of Hoboken, found with 20 wax folds of suspected heroin, and 38-year-old Thomas Bates of Hoboken, found in possession of a loaded Ruger semi-automatic handgun.

Mitchell and Villafane were charged with multiple narcotics offenses including possession with intent to distribute. Mitchell also faces weapons charges. Bates was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of prohibited ammunition, resisting arrest, and obstruction. All three were transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

Mayor Emily B. Jabbour addressed the arrest in a statement. “This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers illegal firearms pose to our community,” Jabbour said. “I remain committed to advancing policies that keep illegal guns and narcotics out of Hoboken.”

Police Chief Steven Aguiar credited his officers for their response. “Through their efforts and strong investigative work, they were able to remove illegal drugs and a firearm from our streets, while maintaining the safety of everyone involved,” Aguiar said.
