Hudson County artist Teewhy G released a surprise EP titled LOVE TY on June 13. The four-track project arrived without advance notice.

“Been time to let these go. Some of these records I’ve had for three years at this point,” said Teewhy. “Music is moods.”

Teewhy’s previous album, No Flowers in the Garden State, was produced in partnership with Mike Zombie, famed for his diamond-certified production on Drake’s “Started from the Bottom.” That fuller, drum-heavy effort set a different tone. In contrast, LOVE TY opts for melodic beats and introspective lyricism, giving Teewhy space to explore emotional weight and personal growth.

The opening track, “Still Healin,” produced by Romann, reflects on creative pressure and emotional fatigue. Teewhy questions whether he brings pride to his family with the lines, “I tend to wonder who I am through my mom’s eyes, do I make her proud?” He also reflects on sacrifice: “I already lost a lot, all the time invested in my craft, it really cost a lot.”

“Say You Love Me,” produced by Donavelo, centers on a relationship with a woman who has been emotionally hurt and is hesitant to love again. Teewhy says, “I got feelings for you but I ain’t gonna cry,” and adds, “You wanted love but you can’t take care of it. Tell the truth, deep down you be scared of it.”

On “Heartless,” self-produced by Teewhy, he explores the toll of personal and intimate relationships that have led him to become emotionally guarded. He reflects, “You showed me exactly the person you are. When I met you at first, you would say I’m a star. Now it’s like you ain’t see nothing in me at all.”

The EP closes with “Feel Me Bleed,” produced by Fonaibeatz. Teewhy pours his emotions into the track, detailing the heartache and discipline of life as a musician. He raps, “Every lyric I craft it, with a microscope when I rapped it, and I got it down to a practice like Van Gogh with a canvas, and I’m painting a picture of starry nights.” Even with the mellow tone, Teewhy’s bars shine through, like this double entendre: “My heart is frozen and forgotten but I’m as solid as can be.”

LOVE TY is available now on all major streaming platforms.
