North Bergen Police Officers Promoted
North Bergen, NJ – The North Bergen Police Department (NBPD) held a formal Oath of Office Ceremony on February 5, 2025, at Town Hall. Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual and Police Chief Robert Farley Jr. led the proceedings, which recognized several officers for their service and career achievements.
Lieutenant Constantinos Apostolakos, who has been with the department since 2002, was among those honored. He has experience in accident investigation, tactical operations, and records management. Apostolakos has earned multiple commendations, including two Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Distinguished Service Awards. His career highlights include apprehending armed suspects, rescuing an abducted victim, assisting in Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and receiving the Hudson County 200 Club Valor Award for his role in preventing a home invasion.
Sergeant George Dabal, an 11-year veteran of the department, was also promoted. Dabal has served primarily in the Patrol Division and more recently as the overseer of the Property and Evidence Room. He has been recognized twice with Life Saver Awards, one of which was for stopping a juvenile from jumping off a cliff, in addition to earning Officer of the Month honors on two occasions.
Detective Eric Vincent Weyand has served nine years with the NBPD, working in the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau, and Internal Affairs. In 2017, Weyand was named Officer of the Year and has been recognized five times as Officer of the Month. He holds advanced certifications in crisis intervention, interrogation, and arson investigation. In 2020, he received a MADD Distinguished Service Award for his efforts in DWI enforcement.
Corporal Elizabeth Sinisi, with 18 years of service, was recognized for her work in the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau, and Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI). Sinisi is trained in criminal investigations, interview techniques, and forensic scene processing.
Detective Saray Durango, who joined the department in 2003 after eight years with the U.S. Army National Guard, was also honored. His roles have included assignments in Patrol, the School Resource Division, and Community Policing. Durango has been the recipient of numerous awards, including the Valor Award from the 200 Club of Hudson County.
Detective Christopher Nunez, a 12-year officer, has worked across various units, including Patrol, BCI, and Internal Affairs. Nunez, a three-time Life Saver Award recipient, was also recognized as Officer of the Month in March 2020.
