North Bergen High School Students Take Over Town Hall for Annual Student Law Day
North Bergen Mayor Nick Sacco and the Township Commissioners welcomed high school students to Town Hall on Wednesday, May 7, for the township’s annual Student Law Day.
Students spent the day shadowing township officials and department leaders, touring North Bergen Police Department headquarters, learning about police operations and past investigations, and meeting with township staff. The event also included a mock Board of Commissioners meeting in which students took on the roles of elected officials and residents to debate issues and develop resolutions.
“It was great to see the enthusiasm and engagement of so many students participating and taking an active role in the mock commissioners meeting,” Sacco said. “Student Law Day continues to be an incredible opportunity for our students to experience local government and engage with the people who serve our community every day.”
