Man Charged With Assault by Auto After Secaucus Crash

The Secaucus Police Department Traffic Bureau arrested and charged 21-year-old Jobeth Manga of Secaucus on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in connection with a two-car motor vehicle crash that caused serious bodily injury.
Police responded on January 13, 2026, to County Avenue at the intersection with the UPS employee parking lot for a report of a crash involving a 2023 Tesla Model 3 operated by Manga and a 2024 Hyundai Kona. Officers observed heavy front-end damage to the Hyundai and damage to the Tesla’s front driver-side quarter panel.
Investigators determined the Tesla was traveling southbound on County Avenue when it struck the Hyundai, which was attempting to make a left turn into the UPS parking lot from the northbound lanes.
The driver of the Hyundai sustained serious bodily injuries and was transported by ambulance to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment. Manga and a front-seat passenger were evaluated at the scene by emergency medical services for minor injuries.
An investigation by the Secaucus Police Traffic Bureau, with assistance from the Hudson County Regional Crash Investigation Team, determined Manga was operating the Tesla recklessly and traveling at nearly triple the posted speed limit on County Avenue, which is a 25 mph zone. Police determined the excessive speed and reckless driving caused the crash that resulted in serious injuries to the Hyundai driver.
The investigation was led by Secaucus Police Officers Leonardo Minervini and Dillon Genatt.
“This arrest is another example of the meticulous work performed by the Secaucus Police Traffic Bureau under the command of Lieutenant Giacomo Sallustio,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “This crash serves as a reminder that speeding and reckless driving poses a serious risk to the motoring public.”
Manga was charged with one count of Assault by Auto, a fourth-degree crime, as well as reckless driving and speeding. He was released on a summons pending an appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
