Jersey City’s York Street Project is set to host its 2025 Gala: A Celebration of Hope on March 27 at Hudson House. The event will bring together community leaders, artists, and philanthropists to support the organization’s mission of breaking the cycle of poverty for women, children, and families.

The York Street Project, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace, operates a network of programs that provide shelter, education, childcare, and support services to those in need. With a commitment to peace through justice, the organization works to disrupt the relentless cycle of poverty by addressing multiple barriers at once. From housing stability to educational opportunities, the project aims to empower women and families toward self-sufficiency.

The gala will feature a special performance by the New Jersey Symphony, accompanied by Jersey City’s Poet Laureate, Melida Rodas. This year’s honorees include BNY, The Exchange Place Alliance, and Genevieve Appel, recognized for their dedication to community service and advocacy.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the unwavering resilience of the families we serve and the incredible partners who make our mission possible,” said Susanne Byrne, Executive Director of York Street Project. “This evening is about coming together as a community to inspire change and foster hope for a brighter future.”

Emmy-winning News 12 New Jersey anchor Syma Chowdhry will serve as the evening’s emcee. Proceeds will support York Street Project’s programs, which provide shelter, education, and childcare for families in need.
