Man Charged With Human Trafficking Following Juvenile Sexual Assault Investigation

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit has arrested a 24-year-old man following an investigation into the sexual assault of a juvenile female.

Henry Sunun Sutuj, of North Bergen, is charged with Human Trafficking in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-8a(3), a crime of the first degree; two counts of Promoting Child Prostitution in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:34-1b(3), a crime of the first degree; Engaging in Prostitution with a Minor in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:34-1b(7), a crime of the second degree; four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1), a crime of the third degree; Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4), a crime of the second degree; and Criminal Sexual Contact in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b, a crime of the fourth degree. He was arrested at his residence in North Bergen on Friday, April 26, 2024, with assistance by the North Bergen Police Department and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.

On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the West New York Police Department was notified of a sexual assault involving a 13-year-old juvenile female. During the investigation, it was determined the juvenile victim recently met the defendant at a park in North Bergen. On Friday, April 19, 2024, Sunun Sutuj offered the juvenile money in exchange for sexual acts and arranged transportation for the juvenile to meet him at a North Bergen motel where he sexually assaulted her.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Special Victims Unit and West New York Police Department with the investigation and arrest, with assistance from the North Bergen Police and the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.
