Kearny New Jersey

Kearny is set to receive $379,000 in federal funding to replace lead service lines, as part of the Fiscal Year 2026 appropriations package approved by the U.S. House of Representatives. The funding was announced by Congresswoman Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09), who championed the inclusion of 11 community projects totaling over $9.7 million across New Jersey’s Ninth Congressional District.

The Kearny-specific allocation will support efforts to enhance drinking water quality, protect public health, and ensure compliance with federal drinking water regulations through the replacement of outdated lead pipes.

“I am excited that the House has approved these direct federal investments to support communities across our district,” said Pou in a press release. “The very purpose of good government is to better the daily lives of our residents.”

The appropriations bill must still be ratified by the U.S. Senate before the funds can be distributed.
