A Guttenberg teenager has been sentenced to two years in a Florida prison for orchestrating a series of hoax emergency calls targeting Milton High School in Milton, Florida in February 2022.

Brad Parga, 18, received the prison sentence on November 14, along with three years of probation, after being convicted on charges of making a false report using firearms in a violent manner and interfering with school administration.

The incidents, which occurred while Parga was 17, sparked large-scale law enforcement responses in Santa Rosa County, Florida. Police arrested him at his New Jersey home in February 2023 and transported him to Florida to face charges.

According to authorities, Parga called Milton High School multiple times in February 2022, making false reports of violent incidents, including a mass shooting and bomb threats. His claims resulted in the dispatch of significant law enforcement resources to the school, only for investigators to confirm the reports were hoaxes.

In one instance, Parga demanded to speak to a television station, a tactic that officials believe was intended to draw media attention. Additional hoax calls, including false reports of shootings at private residences, were linked to him through investigation. By April 2022, Parga was also identified as the source of a call claiming a student’s boyfriend was planning a violent attack at the school.

Sheriff Bob Johnson of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office addressed the sentencing in a video posted on Facebook, saying:

“So, Brad called down from New Jersey and threatened to shoot up Milton High School a little while back. Well, we caught Brad. And Brad is going to spend two years in the state Department of Corrections in the great state of Florida. First off Brad, welcome to Florida. We’re glad to have you. And the DOC is going to love to have you as well. So enjoy your two-year vacation here in the state of Florida, courtesy of the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office.”
