Homicide Unit Investigates Death of Man in Union City

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, in coordination with the Union City Police Department, is investigating the death of a Union City resident, Reynaldo Gonzalez, 56, which has been ruled a homicide.

On Thursday, November 14, 2024, at approximately 11 a.m., Union City police officers were alerted to an unresponsive male behind a building on 23rd Street. Responding officers discovered Gonzalez, who was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m.

The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office concluded on Wednesday, November 26, 2024, that Gonzalez died from complications of blunt force injuries. Following this determination, the case was classified as a homicide, and the Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit formally took over the investigation.

Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
