Gotham FC Signs Former UCLA Star Goalkeeper
Harrison, NJ – Gotham FC announced the signing of goalkeeper Ryan Campbell to a contract extending through the 2025 season, adding a promising talent to their roster.
Campbell, who recently completed a standout collegiate career, expressed her gratitude and determination in a statement: “I would like to first express my gratitude to General Manager Yael Averbuch West and the Gotham coaching staff for this opportunity. It is a major lifetime fulfillment for me to be able to represent Gotham FC. But above all, this moment in time is a catalyst, a turning point in my goalkeeping career that will demand the utmost focus and determination from me.”
The 22-year-old goalkeeper finished her final year of college soccer in 2024 at UCLA, where she transferred after four successful years at Stanford. As the Bruins’ starting goalkeeper, she played every minute of every match last season, recording 2,171 minutes and leading the nation with 16 clean sheets. This accomplishment ranks second in UCLA’s history for a single season. Her accolades include First-team All-North Region honors, Second-team All-Big Ten recognition, and a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List.
Before her transfer to UCLA, Campbell earned high praise at Stanford, where she was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year in 2023. During that season, she posted a conference-best 0.601 goals-against average, .822 save percentage, and 11 shutouts. Her performance secured her First-team United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors and an All-Pac-12 selection.
“Ryan had an outstanding collegiate career, and we believe that she has all the tools to be an outstanding professional goalkeeper,” said Yael Averbuch West, Gotham FC General Manager and Head of Soccer Operations. “We’re excited to welcome her to the club and look forward to supporting her continued growth as a player.”
On the international stage, Campbell has represented the United States at U.S. Youth National Team camps from the U-14 to U-23 levels. She also competed with the U-23 team during the 2023 Thorns Preseason Tournament.
