Faculty Member Harassed by Trespasser at Saint Peter’s University

Jersey City, NJ – A person classified as a “restricted individual” on the Saint Peter’s University campus was detained by police on Wednesday morning following an incident involving a faculty member, according to a report from the St. Peter’s Tribune.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the Korean Church parking lot, located at the intersection of Highland Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard. As reported by the St. Peter’s Tribune, the suspect approached a faculty member as she parked her vehicle, made sexually explicit comments, and attempted to enter her car.
Following the encounter, the suspect fled down Highland Avenue toward Bergen Avenue. The faculty member reported the incident to Campus Safety, prompting a response from patrol officers, along with Campus Safety Director Scott Torre and Assistant Director Hanley. The suspect was subsequently identified and taken into custody by the Jersey City Police Department (JCPD), as detailed in the St. Peter’s Tribune report.
According to the university’s Campus Safety department, the suspect was already known to officials and classified as a restricted individual, meaning he was not permitted on campus. Campus Safety has advised students and faculty to report any sightings of the individual by calling (201) 761-7400.
The matter has been referred to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
