Union City Police Debunk Viral Allegations of Teacher Misconduct

Union City, NJ – The Union City Police Department (UCPD) has denied viral allegations claiming that a Union City High School teacher was arrested for misconduct involving a student.
According to Captain Walter Laurencio of the UCPD, no such incident has been reported.
“We consulted with the Board of Education (BOE), and nothing has been reported,” Laurencio said. “There was no incident on March 5th, no arrest of any teacher, and no police action taken regarding these allegations.”
The claims, which began circulating on social media, were spread by an individual known as Leonard “Leroy Truth” Filipowski. He alleged that a teacher was discovered engaging in a sexual act with a student in a locked classroom and was later arrested on March 19th. However, both the UCPD and Hudson County Prosecutors Office (HCPO) have denied any such arrest or investigation.
Filipowski has previously been accused of spreading misinformation. Just last week, the Recording Academy confirmed to HudPost that Filipowski falsely claimed to be a Grammy Award winner, despite having no official recognition.
Joe Lauro, spokesperson for the Union City Board of Education, dismissed the accusations.
“There is no proof of any of this because it never happened,” Lauro said. “This guy [Filipowski] follows people around and harasses them. Now he’s involving students and teachers in this. He’s even threatened me.”
Lauro added that the BOE is considering legal action in response to the false claims.
“The Board is discussing possible legal action against him,” he said. “I’m not part of those discussions, but I know they are taking this seriously.”
He also emphasized that any credible allegations involving students and teachers would have been handled through official channels.
“If any situation arose with a student and a teacher, the matter would be immediately reported to the UCPD, and they would bring it to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office,” Lauro stated.
