Temporary Pedestrian Route Along Tonnelle Avenue Annouced

The Gateway Development Commission has announced changes to pedestrian access along Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen, effective Wednesday, November 27, 2024. These modifications accommodate the next phase of the ongoing construction project.

A temporary pedestrian bridge has been installed adjacent to Tonnelle Avenue to facilitate safe travel along the east side (northbound). Pedestrians are instructed to follow posted signs and remain within marked pathways. The sidewalk on the west side (southbound) of Tonnelle Avenue remains closed, with detours directing pedestrians to the east side.

For motorists, the speed limit in the construction zone remains 25 MPH for all northbound and southbound lanes to ensure safety.
