Solomon Holds Commanding Lead Over McGreevey in Jersey City Mayoral Poll
Councilman James Solomon leads former Governor Jim McGreevey by nearly 30 points in a new poll ahead of Jersey City’s December 2 mayoral runoff election, according to findings released by Impact Research.
The poll, conducted November 6–10 among 500 likely runoff voters, shows Solomon with 58% support to McGreevey’s 29%, while 13% remain undecided. This represents a significant gain for Solomon, who held a narrower 46% to 38% advantage in a similar poll conducted in July.
Solomon’s support spans key demographic groups. The councilman leads McGreevey by 38 percentage points among white voters, 36 points among Latino voters, and 18 points among Black voters.
Among voters who backed other candidates in the first round, Solomon leads by 57 points. Specifically, he is ahead by 55 points among Bill O’Dea’s supporters and by 63 points among Mussab Ali’s supporters; both former candidates have endorsed Solomon.
The poll’s margin of error is ±4.4 percentage points. The July survey polled the same number of likely voters with an identical margin of error.
