Pat Waiters Delivers Sharp Criticisms at Hoboken Mayoral Forum

Mayoral candidate Patricia Waiters brought high energy and a series of sharp critiques to the Hoboken mayoral forum on September 10, hosted by the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce. Her remarks drew laughter from the audience and prompted the only applause of the evening.
“I’m unbossed, I’m unbought, I’ll stay poor before I give myself and my integrity and reputation into the hype,” Waiters said in her opening, presenting herself as a longtime community advocate with deep Hoboken roots.
Known for her direct delivery, Waiters criticized political loyalty and urged voters to move beyond what she described as a cycle of recycled leadership. “I’d rather eat cheese and be pleased than eat steak with a snake,” she said.
She stated clearly that she is not in the race to act as a spoiler, emphasizing that her original intention was to run for council-at-large. “I’m not a spoiler,” she said. “My attention was on running for council at-large so I can help the whole community at large like I do anyway.”
Referencing her decades of civic involvement, she expressed frustration that no other candidates included her on their council slates. “None of them gave me that opportunity. But you know what? They don’t validate who Pat Waiters is,” she said.
Waiters concluded by referencing her past runs for office, including a 2019 campaign for Hudson County Executive in which she received approximately 3,000 votes. “Keep faith and vote for me, whoever you are,” she said. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
