North Bergen resident Alicia Ospino had a very special party on Nov. 15, 2019. That date marked her 100th birthday, and she celebrated with about 100 friends and neighbors at the North Bergen Senior Center.
Mayor Nicholas Sacco stopped by to offer his personal birthday greetings, and to present Alicia with a plaque in celebration of the occasion.

Alicia’s family joined her for the party, at which she received numerous gifts and bouquets of flowers and enjoyed a birthday cake and other treats. Everyone wanted to greet the birthday girl and take a picture with her.
Born in Suan, Colombia to parents Pablo Ospino and Nieves Diaz, Alicia moved to the U.S. 55 years ago and has been a North Bergen citizen since 1995. She is the eldest of her siblings and lives with her niece.
A strong, independent woman who is always positive and outgoing, Alicia is well-loved in the community and can often be seen dancing at senior community events.
