North Bergen Man Sentenced to 24 Years for 2019 Kidnapping and Sexual Assault

Oscar Ramirez, 33, of North Bergen, was sentenced on Friday, June 27, 2025, to 24 years in New Jersey State Prison for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman in 2019, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced.
Ramirez previously pleaded guilty to one count of kidnapping and one count of aggravated sexual assault. He received a 24-year sentence for kidnapping, to run concurrently with an 18-year sentence for aggravated sexual assault.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred shortly before midnight on October 25, 2019. A 23-year-old woman was walking along 46th Street near John F. Kennedy Boulevard in North Bergen when Ramirez, then age 27, approached her from behind, threatened her with a sharp object, and forced her into Grove Church Cemetery, where he sexually assaulted her.
The assault was reported to North Bergen Police shortly after midnight on October 26. Ramirez was arrested four days later, on October 30, 2019, by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit at the Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City.
