Mayoral Candidates Share Plans for Jersey City’s Future

Four Jersey City mayoral candidates shared their visions for the city during a forum held October 3, hosted by HudPost and the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce. Moderated by Chamber CEO Edward Emory and HudPost’s James De Los Santos, the event centered on issues critical to local businesses, nonprofits, and residents ahead of the 2025 election.
Candidates Christina Freeman, Bill O’Day, Massab Ali, and Jim McGreevey discussed a range of topics, including the city’s fiscal health, permitting delays, public safety, housing and infrastructure, workforce development, and political leadership. Each presented distinct approaches to managing the city’s budget, improving small business support, addressing crime, and planning for long-term growth.
The forum offered voters a side-by-side look at how each candidate would approach Jersey City’s most pressing challenges. James Solomon and Joyce Watterman were invited but did not attend.
