The Partnership for New York City announced on October 6 that Steven Fulop will become its next president and chief executive officer, succeeding longtime leader Kathryn Wylde.

Fulop, the current mayor of Jersey City, was selected following a national search that considered over 30 candidates. His appointment was confirmed by the Partnership’s Search Committee, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors.

Fulop said, “The Partnership for New York City has been the cornerstone of the City’s civic life for nearly half a century, and it’s a tremendous honor to be named its next President and CEO.” He added, “I am humbled to take the reins from Kathy Wylde, who built the organization into the influential force it is today, and I look forward to joining the Partnership to help tackle the complex challenges that New York City faces.”

Wylde, who has led the organization since 2000, praised Fulop’s experience, stating, “Steve Fulop understands the importance of maintaining strong relationships between business, labor, government, and the nonprofit sectors, which has been central to the Partnership’s mission since it was founded by David Rockefeller.”

Fulop’s term as Jersey City’s 49th mayor ends in January 2026.

Before becoming mayor, Fulop served as a city councilmember and worked at Goldman Sachs. A U.S. Marine Corps Reserve veteran, he enlisted after witnessing the 9/11 attacks and deployed to Iraq in 2003.

The Partnership represents over 300 major employers and plays a key role in shaping economic policy across New York City.
