The Principles of Journalistic Integrity for HudPost

Editorial Ethics Policy

HudPost officially adopts and adheres to the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Code of Ethics. We believe that public enlightenment is the forerunner of justice and the foundation of democracy.

  • We seek truth and report it with accuracy and fairness.
  • We act independently, refusing gifts or favors that compromise integrity.
  • We minimize harm by treating sources and subjects with respect.

Corrections & Updates Policy

Accuracy is our primary goal. When a factual error occurs, we acknowledge and correct it promptly.

The HudPost Standard: We do not “stealth edit.” Significant changes will be prominently labeled with “Correction:” at the top or bottom of the article.

To report a factual error, please email: info@hudpost.com

Fact-Checking & Sourcing Policy

Our reporting prioritizes original source material, public records, and first-hand accounts. We verify information through multiple independent channels before publication.

Anonymity Policy

Anonymity is a last resort. It is granted only when a source faces credible danger or retribution, or when information vital to the Hudson County public is otherwise inaccessible.

Ownership & Funding Disclosure

HudPost is a 100% independently owned news organization. We are proud to be a Latino-owned media outlet, led by James de los Santos, who was born and raised in Hudson County.

Funding: We are sustained by advertising, sponsorships, and grants. HudPost is a recipient of grant funding from the New Jersey Civic Information Consortium (NJCIC). Grantors and advertisers hold zero influence over our editorial decisions.
