Councilman Saleh Celebrates Marriage Amid Historic Week

Jersey City Councilman Yousef Saleh and Katuska Espinoza were married this week in a pair of ceremonies that celebrated their community roots and shared cultural values.

The couple held a civil ceremony on October 8, 2025, at Jersey City Hall, officiated by Mayor Steven Fulop. The event took place just one hour before Saleh’s scheduled City Council meeting.

A religious ceremony and reception followed on October 9 at Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club. The celebration featured a traditional Palestinian zaffa and debka performance by AL-BAYDAR-GROUP and a live set by pianist NGXB. Guests included family, friends, and members of the local community.

The wedding coincided with the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza, a moment of personal and political significance for Saleh, one of the few Palestinian-American elected officials in the United States.

“It all lined up like cosmically,” Saleh said. “A celebration of love and resilience.” He described the timing as “super poignant,” reflecting on the emotional weight of beginning a new chapter during a time of international relief.

In 2020, Saleh turned down an opportunity to audition for the second season of the Netflix show Love Is Blind, choosing instead to focus on his responsibilities as a newly appointed councilman. Now, as he prepares to leave office, he has married what he described as the love of his life.

Wedding planning was coordinated by DMS Productions, with photography and videography by Donia Wedding Arts and Carlo Timothy Films. Makeup services were provided by Makeup by Nabil Ruby, hair styling by Styles Anna, and the custom gown by Adrienn Braun Couture. Entertainment featured sets by DJ Anor and Wave Entertainment. Traditional sweets came from Albasha Bakery, Ecuadorian desserts were provided by Chokolat Pastelería & Café, the wedding cake was made by Chocolate Carousel, and transportation was arranged by Star Mist Rentals.
