CoreSite Opens Third Data Center in Secaucus to Support AI Demand
CoreSite, a U.S. data center company, has opened its third New York-area facility in Secaucus. The 138,000-square-foot facility was built to support the rising energy and computing demands of artificial intelligence. The new site, known as NY3, expands CoreSite’s regional footprint and connects directly to CoreSite’s existing New York data center campus.
Designed for high-density AI workloads, NY3 features liquid cooling technology, including direct-to-chip and immersion cooling, which are essential for stabilizing the massive heat generated by advanced servers. While these methods reduce energy and water use, large data centers can still consume millions of gallons of water per day, raising concerns among environmental groups and Secaucus residents about long-term impacts on local resources.
The opening comes as similar AI-focused facilities continue to appear across the country. In March of this year, New Jersey lawmakers introduced a bill that would require future data centers to run on renewable or nuclear energy, improve cooling efficiency, and limit water consumption. This legislation remains in progress.
Beyond cooling, NY3 includes CoreSite’s Open Cloud Exchange, an interconnection platform that allows businesses to access providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft without moving data between platforms. As AI adoption accelerates, Secaucus is emerging as a key hub for the high-powered infrastructure needed to support the next generation of digital technology.
