In a heartfelt tribute, Congressman Rob Menendez Jr. recently took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives to honor the life and legacy of Hoboken City Council President Jen Giattino, who passed away on November 5, 2024. Congressman Menendez spoke of Giattino’s profound dedication to her community, lauding her as more than a public servant, but as a “pillar for her community.”

“Jen was more than an elected official,” Menendez stated. “She was someone who cared deeply for Hoboken…a compassionate advocate for small business owners and a warm-hearted, generous presence throughout the city that she served and loved.”

Giattino, a mother of three and a respected figure in Hoboken, was known for her work supporting the unhoused and advocating for the needs of the local business community. Her passing has left Hoboken in mourning, with residents and colleagues remembering her as a compassionate leader who tirelessly served the city. Mayor Ravinder S. Bhalla and Councilman Michael DeFusco have expressed their deep sorrow, describing her as a “bright light” and a “beacon of inspiration.”

Congressman Menendez expressed his condolences to Giattino’s family, including her husband and three sons, while calling on Hoboken residents to “live by the example that she set—compassion, generosity, and care for others.”
