Red Bull New York Names Michael Bradley as New Head Coach

Red Bull New York has appointed Michael Bradley as the club’s new Head Coach, the team announced Friday. The Princeton, New Jersey native and former U.S. Men’s National Team captain returns to the club where he began his professional career in 2004.
Bradley, 38, becomes the second permanent Head Coach in franchise history to have played for the club. He led Red Bull New York II to its first MLS NEXT Pro Cup title in 2025 and recorded an 11-4-4 regular season mark, including a 3-0-1 postseason run.
“Michael had an exceptional playing career and has demonstrated a bright future in coaching especially after leading our Red Bull New York II to the MLS NEXT Pro Cup this past season,” said Julian de Guzman, Head of Sport. “He leads with calm confidence and has great way of connecting with people.”
Bradley expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, stating, “I am excited for the opportunity to be Head Coach of the club that I started my professional career with and also in the state that I call home.”
Red Bull New York is one of two professional sports teams based in Hudson County. The team plays out of Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey.
Before taking over RBNY II, Bradley served as an assistant coach with the Canada Men’s National Team and Norwegian side Stabæk under his father, Bob Bradley. During his time in Norway, the club posted a 16-12-10 record.
As a player, Bradley spent 20 seasons in professional soccer, including time in the Netherlands, Germany, England, Italy, and Major League Soccer. He made 308 appearances for Toronto FC, where he won the 2017 MLS Cup, a Supporters’ Shield, and four Canadian Championships.
Internationally, Bradley earned 151 caps for the U.S. Men’s National Team, scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists. He captained the squad in 44 matches, appeared in eight FIFA World Cup games, and won CONCACAF Gold Cups in 2007 and 2017.
“I’m looking forward to working alongside everyone here and doing my part to help this club achieve the success our fans deserve,” said Bradley.
