Justin Sanchez, a celebrated former basketball star from Union City’s now-closed Union Hill High School, is currently fighting for his life following a sudden medical emergency that has deeply impacted his family and community.

Sanchez made a lasting mark during his four-year varsity basketball career at Union Hill, where he was a key player on several successful teams. Known for his scoring ability and leadership, Justin’s standout performance helped his team reach significant milestones, including a memorable quarterfinal victory in the HCIAA tournament, where he scored a career-high 31 points.

Justin’s outstanding basketball career earned him a place in the Union Hill High School Athletic Hall of Fame, a testament to his skill, dedication, and impact on the school’s sports legacy.

On April 6, 2025, Justin’s life changed forever when he suffered a seizure during the night, followed by cardiac arrest. His heart stopped beating for 18 minutes, and he was left unconscious and dependent on a ventilator. This devastating medical crisis left his family struggling emotionally, physically, and financially.

Justin is a devoted husband and father of four young children. His wife Stephanie now faces the overwhelming challenge of caring for their newborn and three other children while supporting Justin through this critical time.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Justin is known in his community for his deep faith, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to helping others. As the family navigates this unexpected hardship, support from friends, neighbors, and the wider community has become essential.

Efforts are underway to assist the family with ongoing hospital costs, rehabilitation, home care, and daily living expenses. Justin remains in rehab as he continues his difficult recovery journey.

The community is encouraged to contribute through prayers, donations, and sharing their story to ensure Justin and his family receive the help they need.
