Safe Sidewalk Association Celebrates Towing of Illegal Mopeds in Hoboken
The Hoboken Safe Sidewalk Association (@HBSafeSidewalk) is celebrating recent enforcement efforts by the Hoboken Police Department as part of its campaign to improve pedestrian safety amid the rise of delivery e-bikes. On November 12, Hoboken police officers towed eight illegally parked and unregistered mopeds and issued ten summonses, marking an early success for the association’s advocacy efforts.
“We’re thrilled that Hoboken is listening. They are watching and listening,” the Association posted in a video on social media. “Our efforts will not be in vain, and trust me, we’re just getting started.”
Formed to address pedestrian safety, the Safe Sidewalk Association has been calling for stricter enforcement and regulation of e-bikes and mopeds across the city. The Association held its first meeting on November 9 at the Wild Moose, where community members and local leaders, including Councilmembers Presinzano, Ruben, Russo, and NJ Assemblywoman Jessica Ramirez, discussed the urgent need for action.
