North Bergen Man Faces Charges for Sex Crimes Against Child

A 19-year-old North Bergen resident, Edgar Rompich-Ramos, has been arrested on multiple charges related to sex crimes committed against a juvenile.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit apprehended Rompich-Ramos on Friday, February 9, 2024. According to Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the crimes were committed at a residence in North Bergen throughout 2023, involving an 11-year-old female who was known to the defendant.

Rompich-Ramos faces severe charges including Aggravated Sexual Assault, a first-degree crime under N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(1); Endangering the Welfare of a Child/Facilitating Child Sex Abuse Material, also a first-degree crime under N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4b(3); and an additional charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, which is classified as a third-degree crime under N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1).

The arrest took place at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Secaucus and was executed without any incidents. Following his arrest, Rompich-Ramos has been detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility. He awaits his first court appearance, with a detention motion filed by the State scheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
