North Bergen Man Convicted in 2024 Fatal Shooting of Hoboken Man

A North Bergen man was found guilty on all charges relating to the 2024 shooting death of Damon Murray in Hoboken, Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced.
A Hudson County jury convicted Albert Morales, 35, of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon on Tuesday, June 16. The verdict was delivered following a trial before Judge Mitzy Galis-Menendez. The state was represented by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Ed Bilinkas.
According to authorities, shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the Hoboken Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 320 Marshall Drive. Responding officers located a crime scene outside the building.
A 21-year-old man, later identified as Damon Murray of Hoboken, was transported by a private vehicle to Jersey City Medical Center with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was pronounced dead just after 12 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024.
Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2026.
