Hoboken University Hospital Doubles Size of Infusion Center
Hoboken University Hospital has doubled the size of its infusion center, expanding a space where patients receive treatments like chemotherapy and other specialized care.
The remodeled center added six infusion chairs, renovated patient care spaces and waiting rooms, a second patient restroom, and new mobile workstations for staff. The hospital, part of Hudson Regional Health, said the expansion increases how many patients it can serve.
The infusion center provides treatments including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, antibiotics, hydration, blood transfusions, and other specialized medications, delivered by nurses with expertise in oncology and infusion care.
With the upgrades, the center expanded its hours from three days a week to five and added two chemotherapy-certified nurses and a medical assistant, increasing appointment availability.
“HRH is fully committed to investing in Hoboken University Hospital to improve patient care and modernize our facilities, and the remodeled Infusion Center is the first of a number of infrastructure projects to come,” said Dr. Michael Hochberg, the hospital’s chief hospital executive. “Patients who need infusion services can receive expert care in a newly renovated space close to home.”
Hoboken Councilwoman Tiffanie Fisher, who also serves on the hospital board, said the expansion means more patients can get care locally.
“Expanding the Infusion Center means more patients can receive high-quality cancer treatments and other critical care right here in our Mile Square without having to travel long distances,” Fisher said.
The hospital provides cancer care for patients with breast, lung, colorectal, prostate, and other cancers, along with support services also offered at Bayonne University Hospital and Secaucus University Hospital.
