Dash Cam Footage Exposes Alleged Insurance Fraud Attempt in West New York

West New York, NJ – A Hudson County driver is crediting their dash cam for exposing an alleged insurance fraud attempt after another vehicle reversed into their car and tried to shift the blame.
The incident occurred at the intersection of 61st Street and Madison Avenue in West New York, where the driver—who asked to remain anonymous—was stationary when another vehicle suddenly backed into them.
However, the situation escalated when the other driver claimed they had been hit instead. According to the victim, the driver of the reversing vehicle said, “Tu me metiste” (Spanish for “You hit me”), to which the victim replied, “Yo no metí nada” (“I didn’t hit anything”).
The dispute ended when the victim revealed that their dash cam had recorded the entire event. Upon realizing this, the other driver reportedly said, “No hay daño” (“There’s no damage”) and left the scene.
After the confrontation, the victim decided not to involve the police. “I didn’t want an accident on my record—I’ve only been driving for a year, and there was barely a scratch,” the driver told HudPost.
No formal police report was filed.
