Bayonne Is Headed to the Little League World Series

Bayonne is headed to the Little League World Series.

Bayonne Central beat Darien, Connecticut, 8-6 on Friday night, August 14, 2026, in the Metro Region championship, completing a comeback after trailing 6-2 to punch its ticket to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The team will represent the Metro Region at the Little League World Series. Its first game is scheduled for Wednesday against a team from Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

The trip caps a remarkable run for the young players from Bayonne, who remained undefeated through the district, sectional, and state tournaments on their way to the New Jersey state championship earlier this month.

Bayonne is the first Hudson County team to reach the Little League World Series in about 60 years. The last was West New York American, which advanced to Williamsport in 1966 and reached the World Series championship game before falling to a team from Houston, Texas. That West New York squad won the New Jersey title again in 1967 but fell one game short of returning to Williamsport.

Earlier this month, Bayonne University Hospital honored the team with a send-off celebration in its lobby, joined by Bayonne Mayor Sharon Ashe-Nadrowski, after the players captured the state championship.

“Congratulations to our hometown boys for bringing home the state championship, moving on to the regional tournament, and for making Bayonne so proud,” Ashe-Nadrowski said at the time.

With the whole county expected to be watching, the team now takes the national stage in Williamsport.Bayonne is headed to the Little League World Series.
