State Senator of the 32nd Legislative District, Nicholas Sacco, has been re-elected for his 11th term in municipal office. Sacco, who first became commissioner in 1985 and mayor in 1991, continues his tenure with this recent victory.

Joining Sacco are Public Safety Commissioner Allen Pascual, Parks and Public Property Commissioner Hugo Cabrera, Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Anthony Vainieri, and Board of Education Trustee Claudia Rodriguez. Vainieri, a former Hudson County Board of Commissioners chair, ties the record for the longest-serving county chair with former West New York Mayor Sal Vega.Larry Wainstein, Sacco’s opponent, suffered a significant loss in this race, with margins of approximately 67-33 in 2015 and 69-31 in 2019. Despite investing over half a million dollars of his own money into the campaign, Wainstein was unable to secure a win.
