Russo, Jabbour Advance to Hoboken Mayoral Runoff

Michael Russo and Emily Jabbour will advance to a runoff election for Hoboken mayor after neither secured a majority in the November 4 contest.

According to unofficial results, Jabbour led the seven-candidate field with 5,122 votes, or 26.96%, followed by Russo with 4,644 votes, or 24.42%. Because no candidate received more than 50% of the vote, Hoboken’s election rules require a runoff between the top two finishers.

The remaining candidates included Tiffanie Fisher with 3,633 votes (19.11%), Ruben Ramos Jr. with 2,851 votes (14.99%), Dini Ajmani with 2,480 votes (13.04%), Patricia Waiters with 172 votes (0.90%), and 113 write-in votes (0.59%).

A total of 19,015 ballots were cast in the mayoral race.

The runoff election between Russo and Jabbour is scheduled for December.
